Angel One Automation
Angel One automation runs your rules against your own account through SmartAPI. We can write it for your exact requirement, so that Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, TradingView or logic of your own drives it. Or you can start with one of our ready-made copiers.
You run the software on your own PC or VPS, under your own SmartAPI keys. AlgoDevelop is a software developer, not a SEBI-registered intermediary. So we give no signals or advice, we place no trades for you, and we never manage your funds.

What Angel One automation actually means
Angel One automation is software that signs in to SmartAPI with your own credentials. Then it places orders in your own account whenever your rules fire. Everything appears in your normal order book. We build it and you run it, so your funds and your login stay yours.

SmartAPI costs nothing, and that changes who can automate
The most useful thing about Angel One automation is not technical. Angel One says SmartAPI is free, while several Indian brokers charge a monthly fee for API access. Check the current position in the SmartAPI documentation rather than take this page’s word for it. As things stand, though, the barrier is the software, not a recurring fee.
That matters most for smaller accounts and for anyone testing an idea. A strategy that would not justify a monthly API bill can still be worth automating here, because the only cost is building it once.
Ready-made Angel One automation: the two Indian copiers
Not every job needs custom code. Two of our ready-made apps already trade Angel One through SmartAPI, along with nine other Indian brokers. The Telegram to Indian broker copier turns the calls in your channels into orders. The TradingView to Indian broker copier does the same for your TradingView alerts.
For an Angel One account, both of them handle the awkward parts:
- They sign in by themselves. You enter your API key, client code, 4-digit MPIN and the secret behind your 2FA once. After that, the app makes each TOTP code on your own computer.
- They recover a dead session. If the session ends during the day, the app signs in again and sends the request once more.
- They never send a market order. Each entry goes as a protective limit order, and each stop as a stop-limit order.
- They respect the rate limits. Angel One allows one position read a second, so the app spaces its reads. It also never mistakes a refused read for an empty book, which would skip an exit.
- They price in batches. One market-data call prices up to 50 contracts, so trailing stops keep moving.
They trade options and NSE cash equity. Futures and MCX are outside them, so those need a custom build.

Built to your requirement
Custom Angel One automation is not a ready-made bot with your broker’s name on it. Instead, you describe what should happen, and that is what we write.
The requirements people bring are ordinary sentences. Only trade the first hour. Skip the next signal after a loss. Use a different quantity per index. Stop for the day after three losing trades. Message me on Telegram whenever anything happens. None of those are options to tick, because they are the specification.
Say the requirement, and we will tell you whether SmartAPI supports it before you commit.
Where the signals come from
Angel One automation runs on whichever source you actually use, wherever the decision starts:
- Telegram – channels, groups or bots your account can already read. The Telegram copier is the finished version of exactly this.
- WhatsApp – groups and direct messages, forwards included.
- Discord – servers and channels, including bot posts and embeds.
- TradingView – a webhook from your own strategy or indicator.
- Rules inside the software itself – indicators, candle rules, time windows and streak logic.
- Your own manual trigger, while the software handles everything after the entry.
Run several together if that is how you trade. For example, one source can trade options while another trades shares, each with its own quantity and limits.
TOTP is not optional, and that is a good thing
SmartAPI’s login uses your client code, your MPIN and a TOTP, the six-digit code from your authenticator app. Every new session needs a fresh one.
Handled properly, this is invisible. The app makes the code itself from your 2FA secret, so it signs in without you, and the secret never leaves your machine. Handled badly, you type a code into a terminal at 9:10 every morning, which is not automation.
One detail catches people out. Angel One checks each code against its own clock, and a Windows clock can drift. So the app also tries the 30-second window on either side. Then it tells you to switch on Windows time sync, instead of failing all day. If Angel One still refuses the login, the app says so at once rather than going quiet.

Static IP, and why there are no market orders
SEBI’s framework for retail algo trading has applied since 1 April 2026. Under it, Angel One takes API orders only from a static IP that you register in the SmartAPI dashboard. So a home connection whose address keeps changing will not do. A VPS with a fixed IP will, and so will a static IP from your internet provider.
Angel One also refuses market and IOC orders from algos. So the copiers turn every market signal into a protective limit order, with DAY validity. A stop goes as a stop-limit order for the same reason. If Angel One ever refuses an order over your IP, the app adds a reminder to register it.
The Dashboard shows the address Angel One sees, with a Copy button. If that address changes, the app warns you, because Angel One refuses orders from an IP it does not know.

Resolving an option contract correctly
Cash equity needs a symbol and a quantity. Options need much more, and they are most of what people want Angel One automation to trade.
“NIFTY 24600 CE” has to become one specific token. That means the right strike, the right weekly or monthly expiry and the exact symbol in Angel One’s instrument list. Those change at every expiry, so software with hard-coded symbols works until the next expiry and then stops.
That is why the copiers download Angel One’s scrip master and reload it every six hours. The file gives strikes and tick sizes in paise, and the app converts them, so 2450000 reads as a strike of 24500. With no expiry named, it takes the nearest one that has not passed. A custom build does the same for futures and MCX.
Live prices, and knowing what you are paying for
SmartAPI also offers a WebSocket feed for live market data. That is what a strategy watching intraday movement needs, because polling for prices burns your rate limit and arrives late. So a custom build that reacts to price uses the feed.
Rate limits apply to orders as well, and Angel One automation stays inside them. A strategy that fires twenty orders in a second does not need better code. Instead, it needs a design that respects the limit, and we build inside it rather than pretend it is not there.
Product types and the automatic square-off
SmartAPI has its own product names, and the app uses Angel One’s words, not Zerodha’s. INTRADAY is intraday. DELIVERY is delivery for shares, while CARRYFORWARD carries an F&O position. Sending DELIVERY on an option would fail, so the app picks the right one for each contract.
Add your own square-off time, and the app squares off what is still open at that minute. That happens before Angel One’s own auto square-off runs at its time. If you carry positions overnight, simply leave the time blank.
The guards
Both ready-made copiers carry these guards for each Angel One account:
- A daily cap on orders, 10 to start with, and a cap on lots per order.
- Ceilings on rupees per order and on open positions.
- A slippage guard that skips an entry when the price has run too far.
- Trading hours of 09:15 to 15:15 by default, plus a repeat window for calls posted twice.
- One kill switch that refuses every new order at once.
A custom build can also carry a daily loss cap, a daily profit target and allowed instruments and hours. Those extra guards stay off until you switch them on. Either way, every refusal goes into the log with its reason.

Where you stand
Your own account, your own credentials and your own rules: that is you trading your own money with software you commissioned.
Running it for others falls under SEBI’s rules in India. We build software, nothing more. AlgoDevelop is not a SEBI-registered intermediary, adviser or research analyst, and it is not your broker or fund manager. We sell no tips, we do not run the software for you, and we promise no outcome. You make the decisions, and you handle any registration your use may need. Before you trade for anyone else, read whether copy trading is legal in India.
Starting safely
- Describe the requirement – a WhatsApp message is enough.
- We scope the Angel One automation against SmartAPI and quote a fixed price.
- You register the SmartAPI app and keep the credentials. You also register your static IP there.
- Run a session with trading switched off, or in Paper mode with a ready-made copier, and read the log.
- Go live small, then scale once the log matches what you expected.
Trading more than one broker? We build the same for Zerodha, Upstox, Fyers and Dhan. Meanwhile, multi-broker copy trading drives them together. When you are ready, ask for a quote.
Angel One automation – frequently asked questions
Is SmartAPI really free?
Angel One says SmartAPI is free, unlike the paid APIs at several Indian brokers. Check the SmartAPI site for the current position. As things stand, though, the cost of automating an Angel One account is the software, not a recurring API fee.
Is there a ready-made Angel One bot?
There are two. The Telegram to Indian broker copier and the TradingView to Indian broker copier both trade Angel One through SmartAPI. For anything they do not cover, we write Angel One automation to your requirement.
Can it take signals from Telegram, WhatsApp or Discord?
The ready-made copiers take Telegram calls and TradingView alerts. A custom build can also read WhatsApp and Discord, run rules of its own or take a manual trigger, and several sources can run together.
How does the TOTP login work?
You save the secret behind your 2FA once. From then on, the app makes each six-digit code itself and signs in with your client code and MPIN, so you never type a code at 9:10.
What if the session ends during the day?
The app spots Angel One’s own “session expired” reply, signs in again and sends the request once more. That retry is safe, because Angel One refuses a dead session before the order reaches the book.
Why will it not send a market order?
Angel One refuses market and IOC orders from algos. So Angel One automation sends a protective limit order instead, and stops go as stop-limit orders.
Why does Angel One need my static IP?
Since 1 April 2026, SEBI’s retail algo rules let Angel One accept API orders only from a static IP you have registered in the SmartAPI dashboard. The app shows the address Angel One sees, with a Copy button.
Can it trade options like BANKNIFTY 52000 CE?
It can. The software matches the strike, expiry and exact symbol against Angel One’s scrip master, which it reloads every six hours, because those change at every expiry.
Does it use live prices or polling?
A custom build that reacts to price uses SmartAPI’s WebSocket feed. The ready-made copiers need fewer prices, so they ask the market-data call for up to 50 contracts at a time.
Do you provide signals or run it for me?
Neither. We build the software, and you operate it on your own account. We are not a SEBI-registered intermediary, adviser or research analyst.
Do I own what you build?
You do. Custom Angel One automation comes with its documentation. There is no per-trade fee, and nothing of ours it has to reach in order to run.
What about SEBI compliance?
Your own account and your own rules mean you are trading your own money. Running it for others falls under SEBI’s rules in India, so take your own advice first.
