MT4 / MT5 Strategy Automation
MT4 & MT5 Strategy Automation turns your discretionary trading rules into a fully automated system. The Expert Advisor finds the signals your rules describe, places the orders and manages the risk. So your strategy runs the same way every day — without you watching the screen.
MT4 MT5 strategy automation takes something you already trade by hand and turns it into rules a machine can follow. Then the machine follows them exactly, every time, whether or not you are watching.

What MT4 MT5 strategy automation is, and is not
MT4/MT5 strategy automation starts from a strategy you already have. You trade it, you know its shape, and now you want it running without you. That is a different starting point from ordering a piece of software, so it needs a different conversation.
Perhaps you already have a full specification and only need it written in MQL. In that case, MT4/MT5 EA development is the right page for you. This page covers the step before: taking something that lives in your judgment and making it explicit enough to build.
And if you want to copy someone else’s signals rather than your own rules, ready-made tools exist. The Telegram to MT4/MT5 copier trades a channel’s calls, while the TradingView to MT4/MT5 copier trades your TradingView alerts.
The questions that decide whether it can be automated
Every MT4 and MT5 strategy automation project has to answer these questions. The answers often take longer than the coding does, so think about them before you contact anyone:
- What exactly triggers an entry? Not “when the trend is clear”, but which line, which value, on which timeframe.
- When do you not take a valid signal? Every discretionary trader skips some, and the reason is often a rule they never wrote down.
- What happens if a second signal arrives while you are already in? Add, ignore or replace.
- Where does the stop go, precisely? A swing low is a rule. “Below the structure” is not one yet.
- How do you size? If it varies, on what.
- When do you move the stop or take part off?
- What do you do around news, the session open and the weekend?
We ask these questions rather than guess the answers. A guess produces an EA that trades something close to your strategy, and close is worse than useless.

The discretionary part, and what to do about it
Most strategies we see contain a piece that nobody has written down yet. It is the part where you look at the chart and decide the trade does not feel right. Pretending that piece does not exist is how automation projects disappoint.
There are three honest ways to handle it, and we can deliver any of them:
- Find the rule underneath it. Often there is one, such as a spread limit, a time of day or a distance from a level. Once you name it, the EA can measure it.
- Automate the mechanical part only and keep the judgment. The EA marks the setup and waits for your confirmation. Then it manages everything after that.
- Automate it fully and accept the difference. Sometimes the filter you apply by eye is worth less than the trades you miss while asleep. You can measure that before deciding.

How a manual strategy becomes an EA
- You describe it however you can. Send written rules, a screen recording, or marked-up screenshots of your last twenty trades. A call where you talk through the chart works too, and screenshots of real trades often help most.
- We write it back to you as explicit rules, and you correct us. This is where MT4 MT5 strategy automation really happens, because the code comes after.
- We build it in MQL4 or MQL5, with your risk rules, your limits and broker-constraint handling built in.
- We test it against your own history and show you where it agrees and disagrees with what you did.
- You run it on demo beside your own trading, for a period you choose.
- It goes live at a size you are comfortable with.

MQL4 and MQL5 are MetaQuotes’ own languages, and the official MQL5 reference covers the language and the functions an EA can call. As a result, any MQL developer can read and change the source you receive.
Proving it matches how you actually trade
A backtest tells you the code follows the rules. However, it does not tell you the rules are the ones you actually trade. Those are two different questions.
So, where you can share a period of your own trade history, we test the EA against it. We run it over the same dates and compare the two. Which trades did it take that you did not? Which did you take that it did not, and why?
That comparison is where the last few rules come out. They are the ones you did not know you had until you saw the machine break them.

What automation changes, and what it does not
It changes the trades you miss while asleep or busy, and the entries you hesitate on. It also changes the stop you widen “just this once” and the size you raise after two wins. Then there is the day you keep trading after your limit because the loss feels recoverable.
It does not change whether the strategy has an edge. MT4/MT5 strategy automation makes a losing strategy lose more consistently. If the rules do not work, automating them removes the human errors that were sometimes saving you.
We will tell you before we start if the strategy, as described, looks unlikely to survive costs. You may still want it, and then we will build it properly. But you will not hear about it from us for the first time after delivery.
MT4 or MT5 for an automated strategy
If you are not already committed, MT4 and MT5 strategy automation is slightly easier on MT5. The position model is simpler to reason about, the strategy tester is better, and it handles more instruments. Still, MT4 remains the right answer when you already trade there and your broker’s MT5 liquidity is worse.
Say at the start if you want both. Building an automated strategy for both platforms at once costs far less than building for one and converting it later. The MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 pages cover each platform in more depth.
Living with it afterwards
- A log that explains itself. The EA records every signal seen, every trade taken and every trade refused, with the reason. No silence.
- Limits you set – daily loss, trade count, spread cap and trading hours.
- It survives a restart. It finds its own positions again rather than losing track of them.
- Adjustments afterwards. The first month of live trading usually suggests two or three refinements, and that is normal rather than a failure.

Not sure this is the right page? Trading strategy automation covers the same work on Indian brokers, TradingView and crypto as well.
MT4 MT5 strategy automation – frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this and EA development?
EA development builds from a specification you already have. MT4 MT5 strategy automation is the step before: it turns something you trade by judgment into rules explicit enough to build. If you already have the spec, go straight to the development page.
My strategy is partly discretionary. Can it still be automated?
Yes, in one of three honest ways. Find the rule underneath the judgment, because there usually is one. Or automate the mechanical part and keep the decision, so the EA manages the trade after you confirm. Otherwise, automate it fully and measure what the discretion was worth.
What do I need to send you?
Written rules, a screen recording, or marked-up screenshots of your last twenty trades. Screenshots of real trades often beat a document, because they show what you did rather than what you think you do.
Will the EA trade exactly like me?
That is the target, and we test it. Where you can supply your own trade history, we run the EA over the same dates. Then we show you the trades it took that you did not, and the reverse.
Will automating it make my strategy profitable?
No, and this matters. Automation removes hesitation, missed trades and the rules you break under pressure. It does not create an edge, so a losing strategy simply loses more consistently.
Can it alert me instead of trading?
Yes. The EA can mark the setup and wait for your confirmation before entering. After that, it manages the stop, the targets and the exit by itself.
Does it work on MT4 or MT5?
Both. If you want both from the start, say so, because building for both at once costs less than converting later.
How long does it take?
It depends mostly on how clear your rules already are. The coding is usually the shorter half, and you get a timeline with the fixed quote.
What happens after delivery?
The first month of live trading usually suggests two or three refinements. That is normal rather than a failure, and support covers it.
How much does MT4 MT5 strategy automation cost?
It depends on how many rules there are and how much of the strategy is still judgment. Describe it, even with screenshots, and we will quote a fixed price: ask for a quote.
